Dear Friend,
We have some important and exciting news to share with you: as of November 2009 – after a two-year PETA campaign to get foie gras removed from their stores – Selfridges has stopped selling the notoriously cruel "delicacy of despair" and have promised PETA's chief campaign spokesperson on this issue, Sir Roger Moore, via telephone that they will not sell it in the future.
The move comes as a result of our stepping up the campaign and the tenacious support of Sir Roger – as well as all the help from committed PETA members, volunteers and activists like you who sent Selfridges more than 5,000 e-mails and hundreds of letters and bombarded their head office with telephone calls. To read more, please visit our website.
Our work doesn't stop there, of course. Millions of animals are still held captive on factory farms destined to be on a dinner plate, on fur farms about to be skinned for coats or trapped and scared in laboratory cages. PETA is a force to be reckoned with, and we will not stop until every cage is opened and every animal is free from abuse.
Together, we and animals will win! Thank you.
Sincerely,
Ingrid E. Newkirk
